Hyram M. Montero was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and The John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the Illinois and Florida Bars in 1980 and 1982, respectively. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

In 1988, Hyram founded Broward County’s first multilingual law firm. For over thirty years, Hyram has devoted himself to representing plaintiffs in complex personal injury and wrongful death cases, including traumatic brain injury cases. Hyram has tried over 350 jury trials and 200 non-jury trials during his career. He is recognized in the International Who’s Who of Professionals. He is licensed in both Florida and Illinois. His professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, American Justice Association, The Florida Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, The Illinois Bar Association, Illinois Justice Association, Broward County Bar Association, Broward County Justice Association, Cuban American Bar Association, and Broward County Hispanic Bar Association where he served as president during 2006-2007. Hyram is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which recognizes excellence in advocacy and limits its membership to trial lawyers who have achieved verdicts, awards, or settlements in an amount of $1,000,000.00 or more. Hyram has also been recognized by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate for his special knowledge, skills and proficiency as a civil trial lawyer.

Aside from devoting himself to representation of his clients, Hyram is also very active in the community. He has served on the executive board of the Brain Injury Association of Florida, which promotes awareness, understanding and prevention of brain injury through education, advocacy, research grants and community support services for individuals and families touched by a life-altering, often devastating traumatic brain injury. Hyram is a board member of Take Stock in Children which fosters mentorship programs between professionals and students in the public schools of Broward County, Florida. It offers a comprehensive program that helps low income children succeed by providing college and vocational scholarships, volunteer mentors, early intervention and long term support. Hyram has been actively involved in mentoring children, adolescents and young adults for over 25 years. Hyram also serves as an executive board member emeritus of Hispanic Unity of Florida a private, non-profit human services agency that serves the needs of immigrants in South Florida. The organization helps tens of thousands annually through job placement, English language education, acculturation programs, legal assistance, financial literary, and health screenings. Hyram serves on the board and is president of the Light of the World Clinic, a health clinic offering free medical assistance to the uninsured in our community. By providing free medical services to the underserved, the Clinic provides early medical intervention by treating and stabilizing hypertension, diabetes, coronary disease, obesity and other diseases. Hyram also serves on the board of the Henderson Behavioral Health, a private, not for profit behavioral health care system providing comprehensive recovery services to more than 20,000 people of all ages annually. Henderson provides a continuation of high quality, community based prevention, education, treatment and rehabilitation services by utilizing best practices and evidence based treatment models to maximize recovery. Hyram is a member of the American Inns of Court, which is designed to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar. It is an organization comprised of judges, lawyers, law professors and law students.

Hyram is a well recognized speaker on issues of concern to the legal community in the United States as well as overseas. Hyram has spoken before the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers in Birmingham, England; before the Peruvian Bar Association in Lima, Peru; at various conventions sponsored by the Florida Justice Association; at continuing legal education seminars offered by Professional Education Systems, Inc; at the Center for International Legal Studies in Kitzbuhel, Austria; at the International Association of Brain Injury Survivors in Turin, Italy and before the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada in Fort Lauderdale.
